So I’ve been 23 for a week. A whole week. I thought turning older would mean I would get all the wisdom. Like when you level up on a game and gain loads of new things. Sadly, I am not any wiser after a week. So instead I am going to share the best advice I have been given by others. Maybe 24 is the age I will be able to impart my own wisdom onto others. Probably not but one can dream.
Do what you can now; forget what wasn’t done then. Basically, don’t stress about something you haven’t done. You can’t change the past but you can change the future so basically do what you can. I honestly think this one is from Skins, but this is something I live by.
Be nice to everyone on your way up because you are going to bump into them on your way back down. Whether you go up by getting a promotion or a new house or boyfriend, just be mindful of how you treat others. Something will come crashing down and if you treated people badly, they won’t be as willing to help you back up. And you won’t deserve their help.
People remember how you make them feel. This is important so don’t forget this.
Don’t compare your chapter 1 to someone else’s chapter 20. This piece of advice has got me through so much like starting a new job or moving abroad. It’s forced me to get through situations I would normally give up on. Everyone has to start somewhere so don’t be disheartened if you aren’t at the same standard as everyone else. They were once in your position.
