I find it so hard to find skincare that is actually good for my skin, especially since having Spencer. My skin is very sensitive, to the point where products that are ‘gentle’ are still stinging my skin. So these are the things I use when my skin is in this state. Because, although the Glamglow pots smell so so good, they aren’t the best when you’re skin is in a bit of a mood.
One of my new year resolutions was to actually have a skincare routine so when I saw Avène’s three step routine for very sensitive skin, I knew it was something that I needed in my life. (Yes I’m aware that there are only two Avène products in the photo. The third product has been used up so I didn’t have it for the photo. My bad).
On the back of the box it stated that these products were suited to skin that is prone to stinging. Most of the time, my skin isn’t extremely sensitive but a few months ago my skin would sting whenever I put anything on it. I’m not sure if it was lack of sleep or post pregnancy hormones but my skin was a mess. It was constantly red or breaking out in spots but it was also so dry that I was at a point of despair before this product saved me. (Ok, I know, bit dramatic). It didn’t sting my skin and within two weeks I could use products that had previously caused stinging. Like, it’s not a complete miracle worker; there are probably products I still won’t be able to use but it has made a massive difference. It also took a bit of time to get used to using a lotion for cleansing but I’m still happy with the results it produces.
Another product I use is part of Superdrug’s range, the Simply Pure hydrating serum. This has replaced the moisturiser from the Avène set until I replace it. Although the product is suitable for sensitive skin, I found it to sting a little when my skin was hypersensitive but now it stops my skin from feeling tight from dryness.
If I feel like products have been building up on my skin then I use the exfoliator from this Superdrug range. This scrub is ideal for me as it isn’t abrasive and it manages to get rid of dead skin cells that have built up. It doesn’t aggravate my skin and my foundation goes on better the next day after I have used this.
For a while, I had a bad habit of either leaving makeup on overnight or just using make-up wipes, baby wipes or micellar water to take it off. Yeah, I don’t know why my skin was in bad condition either… . With my new skincare routine, I have found that I can have difficulty getting all my eye make-up off so I repurchased a classic, Nivea’s Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover. We all know how good this stuff is so thank you Nivea for making sure I don’t have panda eyes for the postman and for saving my pillow cases from even more mascara marks.
So these are the only products in my skincare range because I don’t want to complicate things for my skin. Oh these and a few Cod Liver oil tablets if I’m feeling fancy. Are there any products you swear by?
