As fun as make up can be, sometimes it is a nightmare trying to find a product that works for you and actually lasts. Over the past few months, I have been testing several products to see what works for me during work. For context, I work in a pub, which can get quite warm, so I have to make sure that my make up won’t budge during the night so it has to last for at least 10 hours.
Starting with my base, I normally use Nivea’s post shave balm as a primer because I love the way it makes my skin feel and it works well with my foundation, Max Factor’s Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 foundation. I like this foundation as it is easy to use products on top of it. I’ve recently been using the Nyx HD Photogenic concealer wand. I prefer to use this one over my Collection concealer just because it doesn’t look cakey or stick on dry patches of skin so it’s a better concealer if my make up needs to last all day. To set this, I use Rimmel’s stay matte powder. Don’t think I need to say anything about this product. Everyone and their dogs know about this product.
The only eyeshadow palette I reach for at the moment is the ABH Modern Renaissance palette. The shades are so pigmented and so soft and blend so easily that I just love working with it. These shades also last all day and don’t fade at all so, again, perfect for when I’m working a long shift. I then use my trusty Mac Factor 2000 Calorie mascara because I’m not brave enough to even try another mascara.
For highlighter, I tend to mix it up a little bit more. I alternate between the L.A girl strobe light in 120, Makeup Revolution’s Strobe Powder or using an Essence eyeshadow in the shade Snowflake. All of this give a nice, natural glow that can be built up to a blinding highlight. I normally go for a natural look so it looks like my skin has a natural glow. Spoiler: it definitely doesn’t.
Another Makeup Revolution product I use is the Ultimate Bronzer. This is one of the only bronzers I have found that gives a matte finish and doesn’t make my skin look orange. I also use this as a contour shade because it’s the only thing that has managed to conceal my double chin. That and Barry M’s Contour kit.
To set my make up, I use the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. Although the thought of spraying liquid on my face to set my make up still makes me nervous, I think this helps make my make up to last longer and not sweat off my face, which is perfect for work.
So that’s everything I use to make my make up last all day. This look is sweat-proof, baby-proof and lasts all day in work. What products do you use that last all day?
